If you enjoy funny, dark non-fiction about dead bodies have I got a reading recommendation for you!
Stiff, by Mary Roach.

Yeah, yeah, I know it came out years ago but it's taken me until now to read it.
I should not have waited. This book is perfection.
It is what I would write if I was funnier, smarter and knew a lot more about decomposing corpses.
Mary Roach would be fun to drink with and talk shop. Sometimes we writers find out current topics of research don't make for excellent dinner party conversation. Like the time I was studying paperwork procedures for medical examiners, specifically in cases of homicide. Or when I was investigating decay rates of bodies covered by cement.
I suppose Stiff may not be the best reading for the squeamish or for someone who has recently lost a loved one. But for the rest of you: read it.
