Best worst movies

I've been following Gabe's Hunt for the Worst Movie of All Time project over at Videogum. Now there are unintentionally hilarious movies and there are blockbuster-budget movies that could have benefited from an editing team or five. There are also other varieties of bad film. But In confess: there are some bad movies that I love. Just love. If I find them while channel surfing, I will happily sit back and enjoy the drama.

Bad movie #1

Deep Blue Sea
Super intelligent sharks on a rampage?
Samuel L. Jackson?
Yes, please.
Nom nom nom.

Bad movie #2

Lake Placid
Crocodile living in a lake?
Foul mouthed Bette White?
Wooden puppet style romance by two of the most lifeless actors ever?
Ohhhhhhh...yeahhhhhhhh.

Bad movie #3

Labyrinth
Some may argue this designation. After all it wasa Jim Henson/George Lucas collaboration (before Lucas set out to destroy everything sacred to our childhoods) and it starred future Oscar winner Jennifer Connelly and David Bowie!
David Bowie.
You want me to do something? Tell me David Bowie will be there. I'm talking bridge jumping/bank heisting/all out zombie battle. If David Bowie is down, count me in.
Ahem. Where was I?
The movie is dated, and I sense most people exposed to it for the first time would just be embarrassed for Bowie. It was a box office failure, proving once again that the box office is stupid.

Bad Movie #4

Brain Smasher: A Love Story
Okay, I haven't watched this since college, but I'm sure it's still awesome.
Lotus obsessed ninjas?
Young Terri Hatcher? (Man, I bet she dropped this from her resume)
Andrew Diceman Clay?
Admittedly I drank more in college so it's possible my appreciation is skewed, but for a movie with a $250 budget, it has it all. And by all I mean some very low-budget plot/acting/camera work. Yay!

Remember: bad movies aren't born, they're made.

Comments

Without question, "Manos: Hands of Fate" is the worst movie I've ever seen and may, in fact, be the worst movie of all time.

It's truly, truly, horrible. I strongly recommend you the MST3K version. It makes the whole thing slightly (but only slightly) more bearable.

IIRC, there is a Featured Article on Wikipedia on the film.

Yes! "Manos: Hands of Fate"--I've seen the MST3K version. According to its Wikipedia page it was made "as the result of a bet." That explains a lot.

It was also written, directed, produced and starred in by a fertilizer salesman. Hope he kept his day job.
